Published: 09/11/2021

As part of the school’s partnership with the Mexican embassy, students were given the opportunity to speak to the Mexican Ambassador to the UK about the Day of the Dead.

Our very own Día de los Muertos altar, created by students in 2021

Year 7 students were honoured to (virtually) host the Mexican Ambassador to the UK, HE Josefa Gonzalez Blanco, via zoom.

Students were able to demonstrate what they had learned about Día de los Muertos in their Spanish lessons. This work culminated in the creation of our very own TEMA altar to celebrate all the people and things that we miss.

Students demonstrated their ability to be active, global citizens by asking a range of inquisitive and fascinating questions about Mexican customs and culture.

This is the first of many events planned as part of our partnership with the Mexican embassy.

Thank you very much for your effort and the amazing work you did to set up the Day of the Dead altar at ÐÇ¿ÕýÌ崫ý, I was deeply touched by the beautiful decorations and the things you learned about this special day.

Please receive these patches as a sign of appreciation and long-lasting friendship.
