TEMA Showcases Music on BBC Breakfast ( Published: 07/01/2026)

We were delighted to welcome the BBC to TEMA and to be featured on BBC Breakfast on 22nd December 2025 as part of a national conversation asking: “Why do we stop singing when we reach secondary school?”

The BBC highlighted that more than half of state secondary students in England have no opportunities to sing during the school day – a stark contrast to primary and independent schools where singing remains a regular feature. At TEMA, we’re proud to buck this trend by making music and singing a central part of school life. During the visit, the BBC saw:

  • Regular singing assemblies for all year groups
  • Music integrated into lessons across the curriculum
  • A school choir open to everyone, with exciting performances planned

We believe music builds confidence, strengthens community, and supports well-being. Being featured on BBC Breakfast was a fantastic opportunity to share how TEMA is keeping the joy of singing alive!
