Year 7 ‘Gateways’ at the University of Manchester

As part of the school’s commitment to raise aspirations and promote higher education as an option, Year 7 students were given the opportunity to take part in their first ‘Gateways’ day at the University of Manchester.

The event took place on Wednesday 15th May 2019 at the . It provided students with an opportunity to learn about the differences between school and University, and the benefits of going to University. They also took part in a campus tour and interactive workshops related to various subjects available to study.

Ms O’Donnell, Head of Careers, said:

Today’s event allowed the students to have a taste of higher education and visit a University for the first time. They found out what it could be like to study at University and what their options might be in the future.

It was a pretty fun experience as we got to do lots of activities. I also learnt that there are lots of different subjects you can study at University.
