Students at the Palace Theatre in February 2023

Artists teaching repertoire from the Lion King show to our Year 9 and 10 students, in February 2023

Lion King at the Palace Theatre ( Published: 06/02/2023)

As part of the Performing Arts department’s commitment to offering high quality expert training, we visited the Palace Theatre in Manchester to watch the Lion King, and welcomed back two artists to teach repertoire from the show to our Year 9 and 10 students.

We took fifty five Performing Arts’ students to watch the show to develop their performance analysis knowledge. Students and staff were blown away by the use of puppetry, production and talented performers. We then welcomed JJ and Tori, two artists from the Disney education team, to deliver a workshop to our dance students, where they developed their use of expressive skills to communicate a character.

Students had the opportunity to experiment with the art forms that comprised the show, looking at the choreography, singing and acting. They embraced the practitioners’ direction and thrived with the choreography.
