The Lead-HER-ship project encourages women and girls to communicate with confidence, value their own skills, understand how the world of sport and leadership works, and to develop a personal action plan for their future involvement in sports leadership.
With an eye to providing ‘real life’ leadership opportunities for the girls, students were first tasked with hosting the Year 11 girls HUB football tournament. Featuring 7 visiting high schools from around Greater Manchester, the day ran exceptionally well with Werneth High taking the trophy.

Following on from this our leaders went on to help successfully run the finals of the girl’s Primary school tournament held at the Manchester United Cliff training ground.

A massive congratulations and well done to all of our leaders who were great ambassadors for the school.

It was a really good experience and gave us a lot of qualities to take on. I enjoyed being able to actually control an event. I’m looking forward to doing more events soon.

I really enjoyed the tournament today. IN my opinion it helped me grow my confidence in refereeing real matches and I think it would be amazing to do even more things like this in the future.
