Year 9 students listening intently to Hedi Argent’s story, as part of Holocaust Memorial Day 2024

Holocaust Survivor Testimony for Year 9 Students ( Published: 02/02/2024)

As part of the school’s commitment to promote care, respect, equality, and to complement their studies in History, students were given the opportunity to hear a Holocaust survivor’s testimony.

Holocaust Memorial Day took place on Saturday 27th January 2024 and saw organisations across the country remember the mass genocide of Jews and other groups during the 1940s. ÐÇ¿ÕýÌ崫ý was invited to join a nationwide livestream by the Holocaust Education Trust with Year 9 students. This provided students an opportunity to hear the testimony of Holocaust survivor, Hedi Argent, and participate in a Q&A session with other schools around the country.

Students were shocked to hear about how Hedi and her family were treated by the Nazis, but were inspired by the message of hope she gave.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for the students to expand their knowledge and consider the personal experiences of Jews during the Holocaust. Many of our students were very moved by Hedi’s testimony and I am sure it is an experience that will stay with them for a long time.
